Bronte's Breakthrough - “I’m so much stronger, healthier and happier!”

In October 2019, I made a conscious decision to turn my lifestyle around. I was overweight, lacking motivation and intimidated by the thought of stepping into a gym. Today, with the help of My Muscle Chef along the way, I have been able to lose 26kg whilst unlocking a newfound sense of confidence and self-determination. Read on to discover my weight loss journey...


The first step I took in my weight loss journey was realising I needed to be more active during the week and get my nutrition in check. I started by participating in three F45 classes and ordered My Muscle Chef Challenge approved meals to fuel my training. As high intensity interval training (HIIT) was a training style I was not familiar with previously, it was difficult to adjust at the start. However, I was able to gradually build my endurance enough to attend four to five F45 classes a week, as well as three strength sessions in the gym and daily walks with my dogs.


The biggest challenge in my journey has been with diet. Finding a balance between what I needed to fuel my body for training, while still maintaining an overall calorie deficit for weight loss and having something I could stick to long term, was incredibly difficult. Managing my expectations and accepting the fact that changes weren’t going to happen overnight (or even in days or weeks!) was also a struggle, but was imperative to remind myself to keep pushing and improving.

In terms of diet, I was generally aiming for around 1,500 calories a day with about 140g of protein. I find 1.7g of protein per kg of weight has worked well for me in terms of satiety and muscle growth. In terms of macronutrient split, this works out to be 25-30% carbs, 25-30% fats and 45% protein. Protein is the main macronutrient I pay attention to, and I try to split remaining calories between fats and carbs. My Muscle Chef has been so helpful in ensuring I meet my calorie AND protein requirements to help keep me achieving goals - I’m so much stronger, healthier and happier!


I’m so grateful to have been introduced to My Muscle Chef through the F45 Challenge. Since finishing the Challenge, I moved onto the Calorie Control Meal Plan with My Muscle Chef. I have a subscription set up, so each week I get my meals delivered and plan and track the whole week of meals in a couple of minutes (leaving time for more fun things!). I then label each meal and put them in the fridge, meaning I don’t even have to think about what I’m eating for the next week - just open the fridge and voila! It’s just so easy to stay on track!

While I have accomplished impressive progress so far, my weight loss journey does not stop here. With a goal weight of 65kg and My Muscle Chef meals fuelling me every step of the way, I am right on track to achieving my long-term weight loss goal.

Overall, I’m really proud of my progress thus far. For anyone who is wanting to embark on their own weight loss journey, here’s my advice for you: slow progress is better than no progress. Just keep chipping away at your goals and you’ll be surprised at what you can achieve!
