Easter is just around the corner, and we all know how those delicious chocolates can get the better of our sweet tooth. For some, it’s a time when the temptations of chocolate, freshly baked hot cross buns and feasting can get the better of us and the annual chocolate guilt begins to surface.

However, what if we told you that you can still have your chocolate and stay on track with your health this Easter? This year, My Muscle Chef dietitian, Ria Komninos shares her tips and tricks for a more balanced Easter.

HOW TO HANDLE THE CHOCOLATE TEMPTATION

Trying to have a healthier Easter doesn’t mean you have to miss out on indulging on some delicious chocolate. Enjoying chocolate in moderation is key and some simple swaps can make all the difference in allowing you to enjoy a sweet treat and not feel so guilty afterwards. Check out some simple sweet swaps below!

DARK CHOCOLATE

Swap out the milk chocolate eggs for dark chocolate for lower sugar, lower calories and a boost of antioxidants!

CHOCOLATE COATED FRUIT AND NUTS

Chocolate coated fruit and nuts are a great way to sneak in some extra fibre and protein compared to plain chocolate. Fibre helps keep you fuller for longer and protein found in nuts such as almonds, helps curb cravings and helps with satiety. When choosing, opting for dark chocolate also reduces sugar compared to milk chocolate.
