For Denise Burns, weight loss wasn’t just physical. Her journey meant casting off self-doubt, gaining inner strength, and finding self-confidence. She also discovered the importance of organisation and discipline. By prepping the night before, Denise avoided making bad meal choices like calorie dense takeaways or greasy fast food. And thanks to My Muscle Chef, after a busy workday and workout, she didn’t have to worry about cooking. Now Denise looks incredible from every angle – and radiates beautiful self-confidence. Find out what it took to make this inside-out transformation.

Q: What was the first step you took to kick-start your weight loss journey?

First, I had to change my mindset. I needed to move away from all the “I can’ts” to believing in myself. Once I found the strength to get started I began looking into nutrition and training. My Muscle Chef made the nutrition part super-easy for me.

Q: What would your typical day of training involve?

I usually start the night before, making sure I have all my meals ready for the following day. Like most people, I get up and have a busy day at work, then I come home and get ready for the gym. At the moment I’m combining weight training with cardio 6 days a week. It’s really down to my Personal Trainer, they helped me get to where I am today by always believing in me and helping me strive for better.

Q: What changes did you make to your diet to assist with weight loss?

In all honesty food and nutrition was a struggle when it came to weight loss. Being unprepared led to me making bad food choices. Making sure all my meals were ready the night before really helped. The biggest change I made in my diet was adding more protein and not being scared of Carbs. My PT helped shift my mindset from ‘carbs are bad’, to ‘carbs are fuel for training.’

Q: What was the biggest challenge you faced during your journey to a healthier self? How did you overcome this?

The hardest thing for me was self-confidence. The issues were within myself. I had some really tough times where I didn’t think I could do it and I was off track. But getting through it, believing in myself has made me who I am today. Now I have so much more confidence – I feel like I can achieve anything!

Q: What advice would you give to someone who is finding it difficult to stay on track with their weight loss?

Take it one day at a time, plan out your meals and be prepared. That’s where My Muscle Chef can make a world of difference. Whatever goal you’re shooting for, the meals are so easy to integrate into your plan. It’s also a good idea to have a training program or write one out for yourself. Because gyms can be a scary place at first, but if you go in with a plan it will make you more confident. Always be your biggest supporter. If you believe you can do it then you will!

Q: How has My Muscle Chef supported your weight loss goal?

I don’t know if I could have done it without My Muscle Chef. It helped by making meal prep that much easier. Instead of being in the kitchen prepping my meals, I had more time to spend on other things which helped me stay on track and be consistent. The meals are delicious and there’s so much variety!
